Re: Gendo's 2026 Movies

29. Midnight in Paris (2011) - Charming, cute, and interesting. Unfortunately I have to drop it down some just because I don't like Owen Wilson. He wasn't bad or anything here, but I would have preferred someone else in the lead. I think I may have gotten more out of it if I knew much of anything ab...

26. Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018) - Enjoyable documentary. Not quite what I was expecting; when I think of documentaries I tend to think most about learning things about the subject matter. But this didn't say a whole lot I didn't know; or at least nothing that was surprising. It was more of a ce...

R6. Taken (2008) - I love the pacing and overall script of this one. It spends a good deal of time on just characters before any actual action happens. Once things do start, it's fairly constant. There's a good feelings of suspense in the way that even though you know he's going to win, you don't qu...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Season 3 was a marginal improvement. Going to the future helped it feel fresh, and more like its own thing. Although it did definitely give a vibe of "ok so we keep messing up with continuity things that don't make any sense, so we'll just avoid that by sending the ship to the far future where ...

24. The Dark Crystal (1982) - This whole movie just seemed like an excuse for Jim Henson to show off what he can do. Chinatown made it to my top 10 when I saw it a couple years ago. As much as I love Labyrinth, I didn't like Connelly in it; though that's probably more about how her character was written than her acting. 23. North Country (2005) - Second movie in a row with Woody Harrelson and Richard Jenkins, where Richard Jenkins plays a bigoted jerk. Re: Gendo's 2026 Movies

I may have not seen enough Westerns to get that feel from it. John Wayne’s dialogue was very heavy on “you can’t count on law; this here is the west”; so I could see that as being about Westerns as much as about life in the West.
