Re: This is it - A Gendo 2023 movie watching thread
R15. Equilibrium (2002) - This mostly holds up, but not completely. It's commentary is laughably over-the-top, and it would benefit from some subtlety. The performances don't really sell the world; I don't believe that any characters aren't feeling. But it's a cool movie, and a lot of fun. The actio...

44. Love Is News (1937) - A bunch of amusing hijinks; nothing too special. 45. Brigadoon (1954) - Great sets and interesting shot compositions. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) - This was good, maybe even really good. But I don't think it quite lived up to the first 2. But that was a really high bar. This had a lot ...

Ok so time for my potentially long and rambling review of Tears of the Kingdom. No spoiler tags here because mostly the whole thing could be a spoiler; so don't read unless you're ok with spoilers. As a whole, good game. I mean, I'd like to think I wouldn't spend 280 hours beating a game that I didn...

Assuming it’s similar to botw, getting all the koroks will not be the hardest / most grindy part. All map locations or all armor will be.

So a little over 3 months later, after 280 hours of playtime, we finished all main quests and beat the game. Also completed all shrines and lightroots. Not done with the game; now begins the hunt for 100%. Looks like we're missing over 35 sidequests, about 550 koroks, and who knows what else. Review...

Well we've finished all 4 temples now. 5 if you count Spirit. Getting close to completing all shrines. Clothing upgrades feel like they're going to be worse / more tedious compared to BOTW. Comparing it to mine from last year:
1. Kill Bill
2. Inglourious Basterds
3. The Hateful Eight
4. Jackie Brown
5. Pulp Fiction
6. Reservoir Dogs
7. Django Unchained
8. Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
9. Death Proof
Quite different; other than agreeing on Death Proof and Hollywood.

37. Fifth Avenue Girl (1939) - Kind of weird, in a mostly good way. The weirdness made for some humorous moments, but a sort of awkward humor. Ginger Rogers never reacts to anything like a normal person, and it's not clear what they were even going for with her character. And then you had lots of we...

Watched some old comedies. 34. Miss Grant Takes Richmond (1949) - Hilarious. I really haven't seen Lucille Ball in much outside of a couple I Love Lucy episodes. Not much to say about it; it has a lot of tropes I've seen a bunch before, but does them well. 35. The Gazebo (1959) - A dark comedy remin...

This game had no staying power. That is to say, only 1 year later and I barely even remember playing it. You could point to various things that you did in the game, and I wouldn't be able to tell you if I did those last year in Origami King or a few years before that in Color Splash.

Also, we've gotten the master sword and done all the tears/memories, so we've "found Zelda". It's kind of weird, because one of the main quests is to find Zelda, and we've done that as much as it makes sense to do so with the story we know, but that quest is still not complete. Also did al...

Yeah I really liked that final boss; definitely one of the best in the game. The cycle reward is great IF you rush to do the quest as early as you can in a play-through which I did last time I played it. But if you save it for the very last thing, then I guess no reward would actually be worth it.
