(I don't mean money, you fools) Anybody know how his fam is? I've spent the last 3 years trying to get to know my estranged father in Africa. Turns out he's a highly intelligent, but manipulative/dishonest person. He's a career politician in Nigeria. My mom used to warn me about him because she knew...

Thought Rango was boring as shit when I first saw it. Fell asleep multiple times. Was aware that a lot of work went into it and it was nominated for a bunch of stuff...so I really tried to like it, but just wasn't feeling it. Then I watched it with some kids like a year ago, and it turns out it's a ...

Been thinking about game of thrones recently since I brought up that Cersei walk of shame scene. It's wild how nobody gives a damn anymore about a show that held much of pop culture hostage for the past decade or so. And a similar thing happened with the recent Star Wars trilogy...because the produc...

Yeah I mean all of this was basically what I was trying to say back in the Cuties thread. Certain sexual acts and nudity are not comparable to violence specifically because they cannot be faked. You can watch a whole bunch of action movies where people get brutally murdered on screen; but in real l...

Yeah, I get how all that works. It's the directors'/producers' jobs to make everyone comfortable behind the scenes and all that. Can someone who cares explain or comment on the weirdly realistic sex scenes in Dogtooth? Haven't seen that myself, but I think Jimbo's watched that. Rewatch 1. Me, Myself & Irene - I used to like this movie. What a mistake that was. I think it's because at the time it came out, I was a huge Jim Carrey fan and just automatically liked anything he was in. It's pretty bad, though. The character of Whitey is maybe the one good thing. Perhaps th...

A funny thing about all this is that I believe Trump is actually very easy to manipulate if you stroke his ego. You might like it then. It's about the search for a missing girl, so it has dark elements from the very beginning...even though I'd say the show is mostly light/comedic. But then it gets darker in unexpected ways, while somehow maintaining it's comedic elements. Weird show but I've enjoyed it so far.

It's such a strange comedy...it gets unexpectedly darker and darker as the story unfolds(which might be kind of a spoiler once you've been primed to expect that, but it's a difficult show to describe/recommend). I've never seen anything like it.

I'd say the end of 'The Witch' was more of a self-fulfilling prophecy. The lesson was not simply that they were right all along(ironically), but that their underlying bigotries/paranoia(though manipulated/exacerbated by the devil) helped create the conditions that led to those fears coming true.

The irony of the girl being pushed to selling her soul to the devil due to the misogynistic bs happening to her is a dark twist fitting for a horror movie.
