That sounds like a legit freakout. Bale's was because he was trying to go full-method in a freaking McG movie and was weak enough to let a lighting guy distract him. As a guy who's had to stand on stage and deliver Chekhov through people chatting, phones beeping and kids crying without breaking char...

Meh, it seems in many of these exchanges we end up with some form of "Now, let's not worry so much about the words used/meaning of words/etc." when that's the freaking basis of the idea being put forward, and the idea is wrong. I find we *do* have moral superiority in that we foster an env...

The U.S also did horrible things to their own populace during that period. [roll] I know quite a few Russians who'd find the notion that US citizens in any way experienced a level of suffering comparable to those in the USSR pretty humorous. While I'd never say the fall of the Berlin wall was the "end of oppression" (who says that?), historically speaking, I think people are generally referring to things the USSR inflicted on its own populace when they compare the country's values.

It's always easy to blame the teacher, but people forget that kids are cunts, and in this day and age of child safety, teachers can do fuck all to control children. I'm not sure of the background, it's just some poor substitute bearing up under some threatening kids. That school in particular is in a really troubled area with very little to no parental involvement, which is, hands-down, the major cause of this dynamic. The school itself is actually well funded ...
