The government takes animal rights very seriously

Even though it seems that many people on the left and others who are involved in anti-oppressive politics still consider animal rights activism a distracting joke at best, a diversion from "serious" issues, animal rights activists can be placated by knowing that the government, at least, is taking them incredibly seriously, although for the wrong reasons.

In fact, it's taking them more seriously than white supremacists or domestic Muslim extremists. It's so threatened by them that it labels them as domestic terrorists, even when they admit they don't do anything more serious than vandalism and theft. Meanwhile, Dylann Roof is still not a terrorist.

So, in America:

a) freeing a bunch of animals from confinement and torture and property destruction = terrorism
b) purposely murdering a bunch of innocent people in the hopes of starting a race war = not terrorism

It's amazing how threatened government and industry have been by animal rights activists, but it makes a good amount of sense, as the article explains. Animal rights fundamentally challenges capital exploitation at a very basic level, whereas white supremacy does not, even though it's objectively more dangerous and damaging. And as animal rights becomes stronger and gains more support, the government/industry (not much difference here) is going to resort to more and more openly repressive and despotic methods to quash them.

This is partly why I think animal rights is so desperately important.

Even if you take a fairly basic definition of terrorism, say "acts extreme violence with the purpose of causing terror", Dylann Roof is clearly a terrorist, while people who free minks from cages are clearly not. Bizarre.

I wish organizations like PETA didn't exist. Their involvement in animal welfare discussions is harmful. And the two morons who released thousands of minks, yeah they are idiots too.

It's like the 6 people who attempted to free cows from a factory farm. They cut open the pens and tried to shoo the cows out to freedom...the cows wanted nothing to do with them. They new their were safe in their pens and were fed good food. Being outside those gates represented danger and death.

Anyways, reason I say this is releasing animals who have been kept in domestic conditions is darn right stupid. They have no survival skills. If they didn't die from starvation or predation they'd devastate they ecosystem. PETA and those who have the same values as PETA cause more harm than good with their little "freedom" projects.

There are better ways to advocate and bring awareness to animal welfare.

If you look for more cases recently, the John Russel Houser and Roger Elliot crimes were all against women that were not labeled as terrorism right away. Or will not be labeled as terrorism. A muslim does the same thing in Tennessee, the word flies around everywhere. How was Roger Taylor's incident not terrorism against women? How is Dylan Roof not a terrorist?

I'm not sure if there's a culture that is blinded at this or there's some kind of mandatory order that any crime that proves there's a patriarchal white privileged world must be white-washed or swept under the rug.
