It looked more like the Aryan race against.... no one.
I really wanted Netherlands to reach the final than the damn Argentinians that did nothing in the final.

What makes the French attitude worse is that it's an undeserved attitude, considering that in any type of confrontation 1 American = 4 Brits = 10,000,000,000,000 French.

Ok Bruce. Sorry I replied like that.
But as I said. When you are at the top and you look different from the general population, your last name is different from the general population and you live a privileged life. Escaping comments like that is impossible in a polarized country like mine.
I've had girls refusing me a seat because they thought I was American after learning about the Arbenz coup.
I've had people making Italian jokes when they find out my last name. There's been comments about big noses, and guess what? My dad and grandfather have/had big noses. I've had teachers making ugly and dismissive comments to me because they think I'm wealthy.
I really don't know what to tell you. It sounds like "Hey! I'm privileged, please don't make fun of my privilege it makes me feel soooo bad!" It's kind of weird.
So I guess I am going back and tell you that those jokes are more about country rivalry rather than personal attacks. And as far as I know Mur is Haitian-American. I think. I really don't want to piss her off to be honest.

I actually do agree that France was the better team there. Italy had no real rival until Germany at the semi-final. France had a more difficult road. But saying that, I was happy Italy won at that one. They were tied at the final, in my opinion.

I don't know why anyone would think that, unless they ignored the context of the conversation where I was making fun of Azzy and the English.
BruceSmith78 wrote:*looks at thread and sees a dozen posts ridiculing the French's attitude*
Which all happened because you objected to the idea of making fun of them. I don't particularly enjoy seeing anti-French jokes myself, but only because they are almost always so tired and unoriginal, not to mention inaccurate.

Essentially it's a play on European stereotypes. I mean, the British don't even have bad teeth anymore, the Germans actually have a sense of humour...the Spanish are lazy though, and the Italians are fascist

Don't worry. I know that. I studied Cariology. It actually has to do with tea-drinking. Cheese and chocolate also have anti-cariogenic properties. My school actually has the English Cariology school-model. So I KNOW.
I just wanted to get back at Azzy the evil. But the English still suffer from periodontitis, but is not just the English but the whole first world in general.

I'm drunk and wanted to kick a dead horse, but I forgot what I wanted to say here. I know I was gonna apologize to Taboo for misunderstanding his joke. I took exception to him telling me how I should have understood his joke, but I was just being petty. Sorry Taboo.
Whatever else I wanted to say must not have been important. Fuck it.

Apology accepted and I in turn apologize for being snarky in my response. Misunderstandings arise easily in text-based conversation.

I make Scottish jokes but if someone felt kind of bad about my Scottish jokes and perhaps made a comment implying as such and if they were a friend whom I care about, I'd lay off the Scottish jokes because I care about that person and it's really not up to me to define what they are allowed and not allowed to feel bad about.
I mean, it's pretty easy for me not to do it.

Well then you guys don't make jokes about it.
Simple.
And Bruce if you look at this thread. Half this thread is people making fun Guatemala the second making fun of Italy. Both of which are actually my countries. I stand up when their national anthems play and all that shit. So the whole"imagine you enter into a room..." Scenario. Yeah that is me in this board all the time, everyday.

I've never seen you ask anyone to stop, but if you did I'd respect that request. Not that I make jokes about Guatemala or Italy to begin with. I used to crack the occasional joke about France, but I stopped when Mur said she doesn't like it, and you're right, it was simple. Required absolutely no effort on my part.
The whole taking pride in one's country is silly to me anyway. I didn't choose to be born here, I didn't earn my US citizenship, and I only live here because I was born in this country and it's convenient to stay. I feel lucky, but I don't feel ashamed or proud just because a bunch of people that lived in the same general vicinity as me rigged a system that works strongly in my favor. I pay taxes, but that's as much as I've contributed to this place, and I only do that because I don't want to be locked up.

I just watched some Pikeys getting married on Gypsy Weddings. The only possible reason I can see for the bride to have such an elaborate dress with so many layers is that by the time her groom has peeled it off, she may be nearing the age of consent.

Nationalism is not as evil as the gypsies. But almost.
They both steal from the general population under false predictions of the future and fortune readings. The only difference is that nationalism justifies the use of lethal force from the state to use your money to contribute into their bullshit. The gypsies give you a choice.

I think our police would have more difficulty refraining from shooting live black people than they would dead ones. They may be racist psychopaths, but they usually understand that dead people don't care if you shoot them.
