So, like...hypothetical question: you know this douchebag and douchebag says something really stupid about rape and you take the time to write a thoughtful response outlining a typical female living in a patriarchal society in a conservative community. You point out the indoctrination of young females which forces them into a subservient role to men. Fear is one the main tools of this indoctrination, if you do not submit to your husband you will be punished, even if your husband is being abusive.

So, even if a woman does not say no to sexual advances, it does not mean she consenting to it. She could very well be fearful of punishment or stigma because of the way she was raised so it's always a good idea to err on the side of caution and wait to pursue sexual intimacy until you have a firm idea of who she is.

This response contained absolutely no insults. It's purposely ambiguous as to who it's is intended for meaning "you" is a general "you" meaning society and not you personally so as to ensure no one takes insult where none exist. You also make no references to yourself, no personal comments whatsoever.

Douchebag claims this is not an insult. I'm just curious if anyone else feels the same way?

It sounds like possibly an accidental insult to me. That is, it's clearly insulting, as everyone says, but it also seems possible that the guy who said it said so out of ignorance, not malice. As in, it was his intent to only insult other men, not to insult you. But intent or not, what he said is an aggression towards you.

Not necessarily malicious, but incredibly patronising and willfully ignorant. Also dense and arrogant.

He obviously wants you and this is his not so subtle way of telling you that you should be dating nice guys like him, and not all those other assholes we know women always fall for. He's just trying to tell you he's a nice guy that treats women right. Come on.

Nah the guy who said it definitely said it to take a jab out of Draco. It was intentional.

Thanks peeps. I mean I was pretty confident it was but part of me couldn't quite wrap my brain around the idea that there is someone that stupid out there.
