Television characters who have been written out of existence.

Post by CashRules »

1) Chuck Cunningham on Happy Days. For those of you too young to remember, during the first season of this show the Cunningham family had three children: Chuck, Richie, and Joanie. After the first season, Chuck was written out completely and from that point on Richie and Joanie were the only two kids in the family.

2) Donna's sister on That 70s Show. I don't even remember her name and she was only in one episode. But yeah, Donna had a younger sister and then a few episodes later Donna was an only child.

Others? Or is this just a thing with shows set in Wisconsin twenty-five years in the past?

Donna had TWO sisters who both received the same treatment, but separately.
The agonies which are have their origin in the ecstasies which might have been.

Aha! You're right, and why were no Amber alerts issued?

Well there was a very good reason for it, but both Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz vanished from the Simpsons without an in-show explanation.

Oh, Saved by the Bell has a huge number of characters like this. In multiple episodes there would be a new kid in school, who would become friends with the rest of the cast by the end of the episode... and then would never be seen again. Including Jesse's step-brother. And Tori, who was a regular for almost a whole season.

Tori is an interesting case because she was pretty much part of the whole final season except for the end. She replaced both Jesse and Kelly until the two returned for the final episode(s).

Judy from Family Matters; one of the Winslows' daughters just flat-out vanished at some point.

'Family matters' is the most bizarre one.

-In Boy Meets World, Corey's little sister Morgan was written out for like a season or two. She returned later, and they even made a joke how she spent all her time in her room or something. The same thing happened to Minkus too, actually. He came back for graduation, and they again made a joke about how he disappeared from their lives.

-Mandy from the West Wing. Major character in season 1 and never mentioned thereafter.

Morgan also changed into an entirely different person. Now on Girl Meets World she is once again never mentioned while Minkus has a kid who just happened to end up going to school with Corey and Topanga's daughter so the only explanation is Minkus is stalking Topanga and followed her from Philadelphia to NYC.
