For instance, Disney's Frozen had a modern looking Sami in an older time.
The character above represents pretty closely what modern Sami look like, as shown by this image:
However, during the time the movie would took place (established to be early 1800s),Sami looked less....well...European white:
On the one hand people are seeing representation of a culture and people most are likely not familiar with. On the other hand, Sami in the period this movie takes place didn't look like what they today. Is it simple anachronism that gives a lesser known culture some representation? Os it whitewashing? Is it both? Is it neither?
Is there ever a time whitewashing is ambiguous?
