Underrated athletes that grew into superstars

Post by Cassius Clay »

Clip of Steph Curry reading his harsh scouting report.

I known about this kid since he was in college. He's always been a beast. Feels kinda good to have known about this special player for few years, then watch him suddenly blow up over a few months.

What other initially underrated athletes blew up into superstars? I think we all know Brady's story. There's Jeremy Lin too. Who else?

There's also a really short guy named Isaiah Thomas(lol) that was drafted last a few years ago, and he is turning into a monster.

Even though Jerry Rice was drafted near the middle of the first round, nobody expected a player from a small college to go on to become the greatest wide receiver in history. He's especially underrated when you realize that he was the third wide receiver selected in that year's NFL draft.

He was under six feet tall at the time so he played his sophomore year on the JV team and then grew to 6'3" the summer before his junior year.

Insane growth spurt.

I had one incredibly growth spurt the summer after my freshman year where I grew life 4 or 5 inches. I thought I was gonna end up being like 6'6"('cause my grandfather was apparently around that height), but that was it for me. [none]

I haven't grown since I was 15. Meanwhile, we have cases of young nba players still growing while in the nba. Paul George is one, and even steph curry apparently grew a couple inches when he transitioned for college to the nba.

Now that I think about it, people thought Liston would destroy Ali in their first fight, but 'twas the other way around...not even a close fight.
