From now on any time I see a post on Facebook about the horrors of killing innocent bears or albino deer or whatever the flavor of the day is I will first ask if all those complaining are vegans which most will not be and then I am posting a series of pictures that show the real horror that is factory farming which is what supplies these non-vegans with their meat. And then I will post pictures of all the "cage free" chickens, and "grass fed beef" and all the other baiting terms used by factory farmers to lure people into a sense of superiority that they only eat meat that is properly cared for.
Except, just like them clickbait articles on Facebook, cage free and grass fed and free range mean different things to different people and there is no regulation on how the terms are used to market product.
I am not posting those nasty pictures I've got because I almost puked. I think the biggest manipulation is "free range". If you are picturing carefree chickens wandering around the farmyard while farmer wife hangs laundry to dry, stop now. Free range is used by factory farmers in tandem with cage free to imply the chickens are well kept and live happy lives. Well guess what? Most don't. Farmers can use those terms even though they keep chickens in one large barn packed in like sardines so they can barely move with many dying from suffocation and other diseases from living in their own shit. But they are cage free and are free to range the barn so it's so much better!
Whatever, that's my rant. People are up in arms over the bear season in New Jersey and while I most definitely do not agree with DEP allowing kills of lactating mother bears I have nothing against hunting any others. Bears are so far from being endangered and they like raccoons and coyotes have adapted pretty stinking well to coexisting with humans that their numbers far exceed the available wild food and so many starve during the winters, starving isn't a pleasant death.
According to the DEP, every hunter either kept the meat or donated to a shelter.
