This synopsis for The Lobster:
In a dystopian near-future, lonely people are obliged to find a matching mate within a 45-day period in a hotel. If they fail, they are transformed into animals and sent off into the woods, but one man escapes and finds love, despite the rules of the City.
Starring John C. Reilly and Colin Farrell. Sounds amazing.

From that list, I'd say I'm most looking forward to
  • Pan
  • Our Kind of Traitor (John Le Carre adaptations have been amazing so far)
  • Child 44 (that cast!)
  • Victor Frankenstein
  • The Martian (provided Ridley Scott doesn't ruin it)
  • Truth (I can't not watch political drama)
  • Ex Machina (I really like Alex Garland, even if he does struggle with third acts)
  • Slow West
  • Equals (sci-fi dystopia; Nicholas Hoult)
  • Our Brand Is Crisis
  • Spectre (haven't disliked a single rebooted Bond film yet—yes, including Quantum of Solace)
  • Sea of Trees (really, truly, genuinely didn't think I'd ever say this, but McConaughey is a major selling point here),
  • Sicario
  • Life (everything about it seems perfect)
  • High Rise (Kill List, from the same director, was one of the freshest, most ominous modern-horror films I've seen)
  • Crimson Peak (Del Toro doing horror is a must-see)
  • Midnight Special
  • The Lobster (surreal goodness)
  • Silence (just to remind myself what real persecution of Christians might actually look like, as opposed to the faux persecution that so many of them complain about today)
  • The Revenant
  • The Hateful Eight

Sea of Trees and The Revenant stand out to me. Promising year indeed.

I'm a big nerd. The movies on that list I'm most looking forward to are The Avengers 2 and Star Wars Episode 7.
