That Michael Giachino/Inside Out didn't get a nod for Best Score is a crime in and of itself

So I lied. I just found out they're showing the Big Short at a decent time, and it runs into spotlight, so I think I'll see those instead

So I lied again. Turns out I was looking at the wrong theater. Ended up seeing Revenant and about to see The Big Short.
I'll watch Spotlight Next week. I plan on seeing Anomalisa monday.

Aside from Leo getting mauled by a bear &
cauterizing a neckwound by igniting gunpowder, it didn't. It was a pretty straight forward revenge movie that was kind of full of itself in its attempt to have an artfulness to it. If there was any symbolism with the constant use of running water, it didn't translate & just made me want to pee.

What? The movie didn't need to be nearly three hours long and I could've done without the constant shots to running water.

Yep. "kind of full of itself in its attempt to have an artfulness to it" pretty much sums up the director.

Every person nominated, with the possible exception of Tom Hardy and that Vikander girl whose name I've never even heard before, are the type of people who love the smell of their own farts.

I'm laughing over the fact that somebody mentioned Brad Pitt immediately after my post about people who love the smell of their own farts.

I think he's some handsome redneck that married a weird French alien and adopted a bunch of Asian and African babies or something.

What do you all think was the biggest snub & who/which movie would you replace in that category?
And should live action have its own separate category like animation rather than using Best Picture to recognize one medium most of the time?

Biggest snub for me is Jason Mitchell (played Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton) for Supporting Actor. Bale, Hardy and Ruffalo deserve their spots, Sly was OK in Creed, didn't see Bridge of Spies, so I guess I'd replace either Sly or Mark Rylance.
But, of course, it's a flick starring black kids so there's no chance in hell any of the actors could be recognized.

Oh, forgot about Beasts of No Nation. That deserves acting considerations, especially Abraham Attah. Fuck the Oscars.

I still haven't seen Creed or Straight Out of Compton, and I love me some Rocky, and I used to own all the NWA CD's. That shit used to be my lullaby. I'd go to sleep with them playing in my little portable CD player with my headsets on. I had to hide them from my mom, cuz she used to throw away my rap tapes and CD's when she found them.
Anyway, I heard that's where black people really got snubbed this year, but I wouldn't know cuz I haven't seen them, although I will. From what I've seen, that little kid from Room got snubbed. Motherfucker got down.

Yeah, Leo finally won, and he talked about global warming and got a standing ovation. I probably drank too much wine.

Glad Brie Larson won obviously, but The Revenant took Best Cinematography over Fury Road? Seriously? These people have no goddamn clue about movies. At all. As if wasn't already obvious, but that shit's genuinely embarrassing.

It felt like they trotted out as many black presenters as they could as if to say, "look, we're not racist, here's Pharell Williams, remember when he won an Oscar, and here's Morgan Freeman, we like him."

I haven't seen The Revenant, but Castor said Leo was vulnerable in it, or something.

I think he said he was the most vulnerable he's been so far, or something. I didn't get that vibe from him at all. Tom freaking Hardy was more vulnerable than he was.
He is simply not a good actor. At all. I think I said he was, but he's not. What he lacks in raw talent and emotional depth he makes up for in intensity. But that's not enough to be a good actor, not by a long shot.

I think there's like 4 of us that still post here. Five if you count Gendo, but he's like the owner, so he doesn't count.

And I didn't even see, but Fury Road lost best director to The Revenant? Hahahahahaha I don't even have anything to say to that. That's embarrassing.
And World of Tomorrow seems to have been snubbed. What a surprise.
Seriously, what a joke.

The category is "Best Animated Short" and while I get the artistic choice, the animation was hardly the best among the other nominees. Bear Story deserved it.
