I've been cooking this brown rice for almost an hour and there seems to be barely any progress.

Why are you cooking poultry feed? You're supposed to feed it to the chickens and eat the chickens.

It's for my girlfriend.

Hmm, kinky.

She's being annoying now, so I am actually going to eat her. No, there's no double meaning there....I'm literally going to eat her.

Stuff her with brown rice first and give her time to digest it.

I tried to give her some, but she didn't like it. My cooking is terrible.

The answer is essentially because of the outer coating of the brown rice. This is what causes longer cooking times.

But I find cooking it easy enough:

1. Place the approriate amount of rice & water in rice cooker
2. Start said rice cooker.
3. Wait for rice cooker to finish.

Frying brown rice in butter for 5 mins or so helps break down the outer shell so the boiling process will be quicker. if its not quick rice it will take 2-3 hours to fully cook after frying.

By those bags that say Uncle Ben's brown rice on them, put them in the microwave for 90 seconds, and you've got brown rice, bitch.

Has the rice finished cooking yet?
