That's a possibility since I live in Tennessee where Hillary could lose to a rotten skunk carcass.

November could very well be the day that I go against all my principles and vote Democrat for the first time in my life just to punish Republicans for allying themselves with a man as evil as Trump.

Why was this thread brought back? Lol. I didn't even remember it.

I ain't voting for the Dems in the midterms, fuck that. I'm also not voting in 2020 unless it's Bernie Sanders or someone better. Bernie is quickly turning into just another moderate so probably not even then.

It was brought back because Trump is about to get a second SCOTUS pick; meaning that his election is going to have worse and longer-term consequences.

Does anyone actually say "the Dems are just as bad" non-ironically?

Woah, people say that so much it can make a list? Because obviously what I was asking for was a list of individual names. That's clearly what I was going for.

I meant what types of people do you talk politics with that you hear this commonly. Because I'm in radical circles all the time and I never hear that. Even when I talk politics with the politically disengaged no one ever says that.

In what way did I imply that it was some sort of professional writer or pundit who says this? I see people say this all the time on Reddit/Facebook/etc. And yeah, I've heard friends in RL say such crap. That's good for you that you've never heard it. Obviously, I have. Don't even get me started on the number of people who tried to pretend that Hillary was just as bad as Trump.

Typically, when I hear people make your complaint about people saying "both sides are the same", they're misinterpreting (sometimes purposely) a completely different argument that "both sides" are essentially the same, but only on specific issues. Both parties are equally devoted to expanding corporate power at the expense of the working class' economic well-being, both parties are monomaniacally devoted to imperialist empire-expanding through war and regime change, both parties uphold the current class structure, etc. Saying both parties are the same on these issues is not the same as saying they're the same on all issues.

Some people also make the argument that, even though there might sometimes be minute differences between them on even these issues, they're so small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things that the distinction is barely worth making. I'm not interested in spending a lot of time focusing on the differences between the most viciously imperialist and destructive party on the face of the planet and the second-most viciously imperialist and destructive party on the face of the planet.

So Trump gave an interview to one of our crappy, right wing papers, "The Sun", which was printed the other day. He then called the quotes they printed "fake news", so they released the recording of the interview with him saying those quotes. So this is life now. We just have a habitual liar and psychopath in the white house, and no one really cares.

Is it really unusual to have a habitual liar and psychopath in the White House?

I think what sets this one apart is that he's so blatant about it.

Yes, as in - whether we like it or not, America is 'leader of the free world' and I am a member of the free world.
