Figured out the kind of horror movies I likr
Either campy and/or self aware (Cabin in the Woods)
Or
Ones with well-earned scares (Conjuring 2)
Unfortunately, the genre is littered with unearned jump scared meant to startle rather than scare & it pisses me offm

Hey, There's Something About Mary & 40 Year Old Virgin are awesome romantic comedies.Cassius Clay wrote:Yeah...I love horror movies, But, it really is the genre with the shittiest movies...other than romantic comedies.
I think another thing I miss are clean comedies. Don't get me wrong, I like dirty humor just fine but the shock value of it had deteriorated due to oversaturation.

Are there romantic horror comedies? That genre must be horrifying.

I think Warm Bodies might fit in that genre, and if by horrifying you mean God-fucking-awful, then yes, it was.

I watched about twenty minutes of that before I shut it off. I'm surprised I made it that long.

I kind of liked it, but then again, I was expecting God-fucking awful & saw at home rather than spend $15 at the cinema.BruceSmith78 wrote:I think Warm Bodies might fit in that genre, and if by horrifying you mean God-fucking-awful, then yes, it was.
Oh, & Pride & Prejudice & Zombies might count too, though the comedy comes from the absurd mixture. Also pretty bad. Unfortunately so much potential wasted because it was PG-13.

Most romantic comedies have an element of horror.

Cuz they're horrifying?
Re: Figured out the kind of horror movies I likr
My favorite horror movies are the ones that focus on being creepy--little to no gore, little to no jump scares. Examples would include It Follows, Blair Witch Project.

That's why people usually watch them late at night in the dark.Derived Absurdity wrote:Cuz they're horrifying?

Have not seen it yet, but intend to. Need to go through Fargo season two this weekend first, then maybe I'll put it on my next Netflix delivery.Cassius Clay wrote:What did you think about 'Insidious'?Faustus5 wrote:My favorite horror movies are the ones that focus on being creepy--little to no gore, little to no jump scares. Horror short films might be a good place to look for your horror fix. I'm watching 'Lights Out' on youtube.

Speaking of, just saw the feature film version dkrected by the same guy who did the short.Cassius Clay wrote:Horror short films might be a good place to look for your horror fix. I'm watching 'Lights Out' on youtube.
It works. Good tension-building, a bit of allegory, and well-written characters. The characters were actually pretty smart by movie standards. Loved that the boyfriend wasn't a throw away. Great child acting from the boy. My only issue is the movir broke its rules a couple of times. Definitely worth seeing.
