wtf: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -dash.html

Apparently her driver was temporarily suspended due to her efforts until his employers saw the video (allegedly she sent it in to them) and reinstated him.

Naturally the anti-SJW crowd has had a field day with this. I hate their misogyny, but it's hard to sympathise with someone who was needlessly nasty to a stranger just trying to do his job and who remained remarkably respectful throughout their exchange.

Oy, that's painful to watch. She started out okay. I don't think it was wrong of her to say that she thinks its offensive, but her actions deteriorated quickly. Lol, Gawker?

Yeah. I was thinking about this and how the biggest thing allies can do to help is not to get overly emotional, precisely because they can afford to do so. A minority who is personally offended by a thing might not have the mental energy to calmly educate the person on why something is offensive, especially if it's a conversation that has to be done over and over again. Whereas an ally has the ability to be that calm, educating person, because it's never as mentally exhausting to talk about things that are offensive to other people rather than yourself. Having a meltdown and vilifying the driver like she did helps nobody and risks further setting back a cause that she's not even part of, making it much harder for any future Hawaiian person who's legitimately offended to be taken seriously.

Hmmm...I don't feel like watching a cringey video. But, I'm guessing it's of a white woman yelling at a white dude for cultural appropriation?

Did he help escalate it to that degree? Or did she just start relentlessly berating him?

It's a white woman yelling at an Asian dude (whom she assumed was white, because it was dark and he was the driver) for being culturally appropriative of "the continent of Hawaii" because he had a Hawaiian doll on his dashboard. He was extremely polite throughout (he was just trying to drive), explaining that the doll was superglued to the dash and he couldn't just take it off because she wanted him to. It looked like she was trying to bait him into escalating it so she could get internet famous as this brave anti-racist white saviour standing up for the poor people of Hawaii - she started filming before she began telling him how offensive his doll was, saying she was "personally affected" by its offensiveness and started calling him all sorts of names and mocking him. She then refused to get out of the car until he told her his full name. It was extremely cringey but I couldn't stop watching.

EDIT: I thought she might be trolling at first, but I googled her name - Annaliese Nielsen - and she's for real, although her Twitter was hacked so those tweets are fake.

Based on her photos, she does look like she has Asian heritage (perhaps Hawaiian?), but I do find it difficult to defend this woman after she basically threatened to ruin his life over it

Video isn't working on my phone, are we talking about one of those hula dolls that seem to be obligatory in every cab in every movie?

Those are racist?

Yep, those dolls. I don't know if they're racist; apparently they're widely sold to tourists in Hawaii.

I'm not sure about her heritage either, and it's possible she's part Hawaiian or Asian. But then again she referred to Hawaii as a 'continent'.

So Annaliese Nielsen had a Wiki page yesterday and today it's gone. Obviously Wiki is part of a left-wing conspiracy to cover up for such people.
