Trans boy sweeps girls' wrestling championships 56-0

"Saturday was the end of a two-week whirlwind for Beggs that started with a lawsuit filed on Feb. 7 by Coppell lawyer Jim Baudhuin asking the UIL to suspend Beggs because his testosterone treatments provided Beggs an unfair advantage. Beggs is allowed to compete because he has a "valid medical use" and must wrestle girls because a UIL rule stipulates that gender is determined by birth certificate."
They're just being ridiculous now. Other articles said he started testosterone 1.5 years ago at 16; at that age it's still going to result in a mostly male musculoskeletal structure by the time he's done with puberty.

So they'd rather have a completely unfair competition, let him suffer the indignity and hollow victory of fighting people far weaker than him, and risk girls being seriously injured than acknowledge that he's male. International Olympic Committee guidelines would require him to compete against boys should he enter the Olympics, as per their guidelines for transgender athletes after 1-2 years on hormone therapy, but apparently these people disagree. Good job, Texas.

I don't get why birth certificate or chromosome count is considered a more important factor in determining someone's gender than their musculoskeletal structure. Whatever factors one chooses to use in determining gender is arbitrary; why not use the one more important in everyday life (or whatever particular domain is relevant at the time like wrestling) rather than chromosomes, which in 99.99% of life cases doesn't matter?

Most of them aren't the best at science. Lots of people who assume they're cis also don't have the sex chromosomes they assume, because biology is weird that way. Which means it's not even something that can be enforced, unless you insist on karyotyping everyone, and somehow I still doubt they'd be forcing any girls with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome to wrestle boys, despite being genetically male. And vice versa - lots of regular cis dudes out there who are genetically female but developed male anyway, because unlike chickens, human sexual differentiation is tied much more to hormones than chromosomes, and all sorts of things can mess with hormones.

Yeah, it's obviously just bigotry. People need to find a way to rationalize their disgust at trans people, so they focus on sex chromosomes above all else to "prove" peoples' gender.

If that hypothetical kid who genuinely believed he was a ham sandwich (and many other things) also believed in a similar manner that he was a girl, it would be classified as "delusional pseudotranssexualism", which I just learnt about yesterday:
"Twenty percent of all schizophrenic patients experience sexual delusions at some point during the evolution of their illness. Among them, some patients develop the conviction of belonging to the other sex. ... [whereas with genuine gender dysphoria}, there is classically strong and persistent non-delusional cross-gender identification"

incidentally, many of the cases of 'transition regret' were people who were actually schizophrenic, but that rarely happens these days because doctors are aware of the distinction and make sure to rule out any such confounding factors first.
Unfortunately, it's hard to explain this in simple language. I've been trying very hard with one dude on Breitbart who still insists that being trans is akin to believing you're Napoleon.
