So yeah, this happened. While most of the complaints seem to be centered around the fact that they're implying that the protesters wouldn't have anything to be upset about if they just had a Pepsi; what I noticed in the add was...

Did they seriously give blackface to a Pepsi can? As a white person, maybe I'm completely wrong, but I would think it's extremely offensive to paint your can black to help appeal to black people.

I am drinking Pepsi right now. It takes like non-specific civil disobedience! #I'mWithAspartame

I'm still more baffled that the Sony ad managed to get through an entire vetting process:

They should have had her brother-in-law jump on the screen, take the Pepsi out of her hand, and say "Yo, yo, yo, I'm gonna let you finish your Pepsi in a minute but Beyonce had the best Pepsi ad."

Btw, Beyonce did have the best Pepsi ad of all time, but it was mostly due to Pink.

I was so moved that a single tear ran down my face and over my lips. It tasted like Pepsi.

The black Pepsi can is Pepsi Zero, their response to Coke Zero (also black label).

At least, that's what I hope.

There's a part of me that finds it amusing that they seem to be trying to say that drinking Pepsi is some sort of protest against the establishment or something like that.

It came off more to me like they were saying that Pepsi could be enjoyed by anyone- both protestor and cop alike.

I dunno, it's certainly a bit of a tone-deaf commercial at any rate.

I interpreted it as Pepsi being the one thing that people could agree on and that it could act as the great unifier to bring people together.

It was amazing.

I prefer Pepsi to Coke, and apparently most people do in blind tests. But in informal surveys they tend to say they prefer Coke. This is usually used as an example of effective advertising.

If you pour that shit in a cup it's basically interchangeable, especially if you water it down with ice, but if you drink it out of an ice cold can, like it should be consumed, Coke wins hands down.

One of the big problems in this world is that there are people who actually like Pepsi.

Donald Trump likes Pepsi.
Yay, now someone can just hand him one and everything will be great again. See, Pepsi makes everything easier!

They'll have to hand him one of those mini cans, or pour it into a tiny glass perhaps.
