I only knew him from his direction of Philadelphia and especially Silence of the Lambs, but this feels pretty sudden. He was 73 when he passed.

Apparently, he also directed two episodes of this little known show that I happen to really, really like called Enlightened. That, and SotL is all I've seen from him.
