This might be truer than people realize:

I remember seeing some survey or study vox that discovered that right-wing voters used authoritarian parenting while dems and leftists were more egalitarian in their parenting. These right-wing millennial fucks are just rebeling against their authoritarian parents. Deep down they are just being contrarian towards anything they perceive as telling them what to do, while embracing actual authoritarianism. Because at least the alt right doesn't hold them accountable and tell them what to do.
Regular person: "Hey, lets create a fair society beca-
Alt right moron: "NO! NO ONE TELLS ME WHAT TO DO!"
Honestly, I think part of my frustration with some of the left, this past election is this empty, prideful contrarianism some folks have. But it's a little more insidious.

A user interface is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it's not that good.
Common sense is another word for prejudice.

sort of amazing how glaringly and obviously racist that is and how he had no self-awareness about it at all

Wow. Like something out of a movie.

These days I often feel like the internet was a mistake and, like many others, deal with it with a lot of cynical, detached humor...but sometimes the internet gives us moments like this that temporarily shock you out of the numbing cynicism.

I have no idea what's going on in that link. Partly maybe because I don't use Twitter, so I can't actually figure out what's a reply to what.
So the first picture I assume is a transgender woman coming out as transgender by declaring with the writing on the hand that her chromosomes are XY? But then what's the second picture, with someone writing "Hi" on their hand? What's that supposed to mean?

That's the same woman, saying hi to Chelsea Manning after discovering through Twitter that it was her picture that inspired Chelsea.
Re: Tweet of the week
Ah. I thought it might be the same woman; but I'm terrible with faces. Also, it didn't help that until I googled her 2 minutes ago, I didn't know who Chelsea Manning was, and didn't notice her name there.

Re: Tweet of the week
There's a long tradition of liberals wanting to cordon off all the evil racists on to the poors they're so naturally contemptuous of anyway. When the historical reality is that fascism, militarism, and white supremacy have mostly stemmed from the upper middle class. Trump's support primarily came from the middle class.

I can't speak for others, but for me that impulse had more to do with wanting to understand where people were coming from and what was motivating their hate, rather than jump to conclusions that they were evil.

This tweet and a majority of the male replies to it are the reason damn near every mass shooter is a man. These same men do shit like this then turn around and give feminists and women a hard time for "hating" men. Notice that most of the comments from women are compassionate and are insisting that men are allowed to have feelings and comfort each other. Feminists don't hate men, men hate men.

Men don't hate men, they hate expressions of what they perceive to be femininity, especially when they come from men.

U know what I mean bitch. Men only approve of an idealized form of manhood, but hate real/human men. Obviously that's all rooted in misogyny, but one of the effects is a general hatred of people.

^lololol
and this is so perfect. At my birthday dinner last week we were seated right next to this bunch of American tourists talking very loudly about how a "shemale" had just beaten some white guy in an election in Virginia (they were actually more impressed than offended), and now I realise they were talking about this. :D

It's stuff like this that makes me wonder why I, and so many others, were surprised by the election. We are all fallen sinners and this country has always been damned.

A lot of people don't seem to think so(some are saying trans activists have bullied him into shutting down his account). There was even a charitable part of me that considered that he might just be misunderstood...that there might be miscommunication/unnecessary mistrust going on. But, nah, this confirms he's a gaslighting fuck.
Re: Tweet of the week
That time the President retweeted videos made by a British Nazi - wild times.

I suspect he was trying to be cute and meta(by explaining to women how to be funnier in a joke about mansplaining), but it's still dumb.
