Things that might need the death penalty

I was leaning towards the death penalty being bad (innocent people sometimes killed, it costs more than life in jail, it's born from primal revenge urges and we should be better than that, etc), but cases like this make it hard:

They've been arrested:

tbh I'm just as sickened by some of the comments on there, including the graphic descriptions of how they think they should be tortured, but more so the guy who declared that the fastest way to stop rape would be to rape the mothers/sisters/daughters of rapists. WTF? How is the solution to crime doing more crime? How does raping more innocent people solve anything? How do they not see they're exactly part of the problem? Does this mean that if he were to learn that the victim was related to a rapist, he'd suddenly be okay with it?
