He's the House Majority Whip so the third highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives. Two Capitol Hill police officers were also shot. Reportedly, all three are in stable condition and expected to fully recover. The shooter, a white male (of course), is in custody. If I could speak with the asshole who pulled the trigger I would say something like this:

"You fucking worthless piece of shit. If the Republican Party is good at anything it is at galvanizing their base and playing events like this to their greatest advantage. Incidents such as this send the Democrats into full melt-down and disarray while the Republicans use these kind of events as a fucking rallying cry. So congratulations, shitstain, you have possibly just handed the racists and homophobes control of both houses of Congress for another twenty goddamn years. You could have accomplished more by just killing your damn self."

The shooter is a Republican. He was paid by Trump to do this with the promise that Trump's lawyers would see to it that he served his sentence in a mental facility and his family would be financially secure. It's so obvious it's not even a conspiracy theory.

Okay, reports now say that Scalise is in critical condition and the shooter is dead and was a Bernie supporter. I just can't bring myself to care about a racist who once gave a speech to an organization founded by David Duke and tried to lie about it.

Things like this seem to make people even dumber than usual, judging from the online commentary. This dude was a Republican congressman, ergo he was an enemy of humanity and got what was coming to him. Senseless, idiotic, short-sighted acts of violence don't do anyone any good, but everyone crying about this poor guy need to get over themselves. Cry for someone who doesn't want to legislate the deaths of tens of millions of people.

Scalise should die slowly and painfully of a lethal but easily treatable form of cancer that goes untreated.
