Just clicked with me. When Dent and Alfred meet at the fundraiser party and Dent says, "You've known Rachel her whole life, right?" and Alfred jokingly replies, "Not yet, sir." And they laugh and laugh. And then Rachel totally dies. [none]

TBH I never really understood that line. Is that really what it meant? Like, are you even joking right now? Was that actually meant to be foreshadowing?

I hope not but I've never been able to understand what it meant.

Does that mean Alfred was in on the Joker's plan the whole time? That would make me appreciate the movie a lot more.

In an alternate universe Alfred is the Joker.

Unfortunately it was destroyed by the Anti-Monitor over 30 years ago.

Yeah man think about it. *pushes glasses up*. Not only does he tell Dent that Rachel is about to die, but that whole anecdote about burning the forest down to catch a thief? Alfred is totally either in on the Joker's plans or just loves feeding into the chaos. He's an agent of chaos.

I just watched The Dark Knight last night. Still bugged by the whole "5 dead. 2 of them cops" line. More like "3 dead. 1 of them a cop."

Let's see. Wuertz in the bar. Maroni's driver (and probably Maroni). And at that point Gordon probably thought Ramirez was dead, too. So that's four dead, two of them cops. The fifth could have meant Dent. [giveup]

Maroni had a bodyguard that never got in the car.

He had no reason to think that Ramirez was dead. Heck, I'm not sure how he would have known that Wuertz and Maroni were dead. I suppose they could have been called in almost immediately, but this all happened within a pretty short time I believe.

He's the police commissioner. I'm sure he was informed of the dead bodies. And with Ramirez knocked out by Dent's punch and likely "missing", he wouldn't be far off in assuming she was also dead. And the redneck makes a point. Maroni had another bodyguard Dent took off screen. Who knows if that guy survived.

Oh, and for those who weren't familiar with the character of Talia al Ghul but were familiar with the first two films should have immediately realized what she was half an hour into The Dark Knight Rises when she says the words "restore balance to the world". I mean geez it's like a trumpet sounding.

Right...but I thought the Infinite Crisis storyline opened the door to a lot of those worlds again, when Alexander Luthor was playing God, more or less.

[giveup]

Either way Flashpoint reset DC comics anyhow with no real explanation for the changes other than...FLASHPOINT...so they could do the Alfred Joker angle if they wanted.
