Re: Oscars 2019
Gotta say I'm surprised to see Black Panther among the BP nominees. Haven't seen Roma yet, but its interesting that a Netflix movie is on there- though I have to wonder if that's really a pro-Netflix move as much as the Academy people being into Cuaron.

Won't you be my Neighbor and Three Identical Strangers not getting nominated for documentary features is a huge, stupid snub.
Re: Oscars 2019
Of all the great songs from Mary Poppins returns, The Place Where Lost Things Go is maybe the least memorable.
Re: Oscars 2019
I've not heard of the latter but yeah the former is pretty surprising now that you bring it up.Faustus5 wrote:Won't you be my Neighbor and Three Identical Strangers not getting nominated for documentary features is a huge, stupid snub.
The Academy people have always been weirdly snobby when it comes to popular documentaries, I've never really gotten it. There was the Hoop Dreams fiasco back in the day, Thin Blue Line being outright disqualified as a documentary even before that, Act of Killing losing, Life Itself being snubbed, Herzog getting only a single nomination once and a decade ago at that etc.
It's always been weird to me, considering how mainstream they are in other areas- as mainstream as documentaries are ever going to be, anyways.

Fuckin' Green Book? Really?
I didn't even hate it but come the hell on.
