I don't think anyone ever questioned if they do "have a point". The issue is that the timing and circumstances under which they choose to make that point minimizes the problem that people are trying to address and thus supports the continuation of the problem.

Minimizing the problem that BLM is trying to address is the point of "All Lives Matter". That was the goal to begin with (Similar to "Blue Lives Matter" nonsense as if choosing to be a cop was ever the same as being born black), at least from what I can tell.

Like if they actually believed that "All Lives Matter" then they would be protesting police brutality too.

About that analogy with the child: This thread subject would be equivalent to the parent holding the eulogy saying that other children are not special and don't matter. Would you expect other parents at the funeral to be ok with it?

I think you have to take the thread title in the context of being a response. So to continue the already stretched-thin analogy, it's more like someone first interrupted your eulogy as noted by Bruce, and then you respond to that person in anger saying “how would like it if I came to your child's funeral and told them that they don't matter?" Or alternatively, it can be seen as just responding to the person “other children aren't what we're here to talk about; they don't matter to this funeral".
