We're back!
We're back!
Um, if you've been trying to reach the site, it was down since last night. GoDaddy hosting was having issues. Looks like it's fixed now.
Re: We're back!
Oh good, if 2020 claimed this place too I don't know what I would have done.

Re: We're back!
GoDaddy strikes again. They upgraded my account to some new system; which apparently removed the DNS mapping for the forum subdomain. For future reference, if http://forum.pittersplace.com isn't loading, give http://pittersplace.com/forum a try. The latter is the actual URL of this forum; the "forum" subdomain just autoredirects to it.
Re: We're back!
Um, looks like it was broken again, after being fixed? I have no idea what's going on exactly... but I did finally find that I was able to get http://pittersplace.com/forum" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to work but I couldn't get http://forum.pittersplace.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to work.... So I gave up on http://forum.pittersplace.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and just updated the redirects so that both http://pittersplace.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://forum.pittersplace.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; redirect to http://pittersplace.com/forum" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, which seems to work. Hopefully everyone is able to still find the site. You probably have to log in again since the actual url changed and whatnot; but it should just work now.
Re: We're back!
Woohoo, its back.
So what's the plan going forward? Is it safe to make real posts again yet?

Re: We're back!
Oh hey, you discovered it well before I did... GoDaddy only just now sent me an email saying my ticket has been completed.
Yes, we should be fully good to go in making new (real) posts. When I'm ready to work on getting away from GoDaddy; I'll let everyone know, and put the forum in some sort of read-only mode so that no new posts are created and lost in the (hopefully short) time that I'm migrating things over to a new platform.
Related, our version of phpbb is pretty old and I haven't done anything to keep it up to date. So when I migrate things over I'll also try to update to the latest version. But that shouldn't cause any loss of content or anything. And I'll be sure to have backups so that we really can't lose anything.
Thanks for your patience!

Re: We're back!
So does the site seem slower for everyone since things blew up and came back? It feels like every time I navigate to a thread or subforum it has a second or so of loading time before I see anything. Not horribly slow; but I feel like it wasn't slow at all before....

Yeah, kind of. I thought maybe it was just my internet acting up but maybe not.Gendo wrote:So does the site seem slower for everyone since things blew up and came back?
