The Pitters' Place

When I was 15, we were visited by a couple of my cousins from England...for the first time. Brother and sister. They were about 17 at the time(very close in age). Turns out my female cousin was extremely attractive(I had never even seen pictures of them previously..and barely even knew they existed. And she apparently worked with Leona Lewis at some point before she was famous...but that's another story). I spent the entirety of their visit desperately trying to suppress any weird feelings of attraction I might have had for her...barely able to admit it to myself. It was terrible. We all got really close, and the weird feelings eventually went away. I was always deeply ashamed/terrified of the possibility that any of my weirdness came across...or was obvious in any way. Then I eventually saw the episode of 'Friends' with Ross and his hot cousin, and felt much better about myself.

Anyone who says that they don't have a hot cousin is lying.

I don't have a hot cousin. One of them is only six though so I'll report back in twelve years.

I don't think there's any of my cousins who I'd say were out and out hot. There's a few decent looking cousins, but most are fairly average.

Maybe this makes me the hot cousin......or my brother....it's probably me....

I've got about 60 first cousins, many of them are aesthetically attractive. But, I'm sure we all know that there's a huge difference between objectively recognizing that someone is attractive and actually being attracted to them(I understand why Brad Pitt is attractive, but I don't want to bone him). My initial reaction to my cousin when I was young was actually being attracted to her...and I was deeply ashamed at the time. But, I recognize that as a pretty normal thing that has happened to many people.

People are apparently genetically primed to be attracted to people with similar DNA - hence people finding mates who often look like them or their parents. But with relatives you grew up with, the effect gets cancelled out by another biological effect that creates that incest ick factor.

If you didn't grow up with them, however, there's nothing to temper that response - hence the many cases of siblings separated at birth who were reunited for the first time in adulthood and found themselves horribly attracted to each other.

I have a pair of cousins (two sisters) who are ridiculously good-looking. Their brothers are ugly as sin though. Genetics, eh?

If identical twins are separated at birth and this happens to them, are they actually just really vain?
