But fine. Be that way. No pie for you.

Yes, because this is the 14th March. There's only been 13 Marches before this one. [none]

I didn't realise America was so literal to the point of stupidity [none] 14th *OF* March, obviously. Because the same thing can be said of March the 14th. The 14th what??

It was March 14th yesterday. Not March the 14th.

Either way it makes no sense.

If they made sense, they wouldn't be American.

March 14th makes plenty of sense. I think March 15th is making you a little loony. Beware.

Wait, I've seen you write it as "the 11th September". That's actually where I got it. I even made a joke about it at the time.

I've seen "11 September", but never "11th September."

I've seen 11th September, and not just from Az, although Az's post making fun of 9/11 posts was the first time I had seen it written that way.

Probably because from the age I could write, in schools, we had to begin each page of work we did with the date, "Sunday 15th of March". I imagine most people did the same. Then it's just easier to shorten it to 15th March, making the 'of' implied.

Putting aside the cultural pisstake between the US/UK, day/month/year just seems to make more sense than month/day/year.

Grudgingly, I must admit this is true.
