She elaborated on Reddit that she's intersexed with Kallmann Syndrome - XX chromosomes, female reproductive system, presumably ambiguous genitalia because her parents were given a choice and decided to raise her as a boy, but her body didn't go through puberty due to an inability to produce sex hormones. The article wasn't as specific, but did say she was genetically female.

Commenters are still going 'BUT HIS DNA WILL ALWAYS BE MALE, DNA NEVER LIES'. I'm almost impressed. I mean, the very headlines say otherwise. I assumed that this comments section would at least be free of those comments (and the similar 'when he can change his chromosomes to XX, I'll believe he's a woman'), but I obviously had too much faith in the internet.

That doesn't even sound like a trans woman... sounds like a woman who was simply mistakenly raised as the wrong gender.

There's a lot of overlap between the trans and intersex community, though (about 10% of trans people discover they are intersex to some degree, and there may be many more who just never find out), so labels get fuzzy. A lot of the experience is similar, including the medical treatment sought. From her postings, she didn't know she was intersex until her adulthood, and previously assumed she was a trans woman, identifying as such, and was generally treated as such and had to go through similar coming out and medical transitioning processes. For some intersex conditions, it's about a 50-50 chance they will have male or female gender identities, and when the assignment is wrong (sometimes the parents aren't even informed that their child is intersex, and doctors just do whatever surgery is 'easier', without parental awareness or consent) results in a life experience that's very similar to that of a trans person - hence there are people describing themselves as both intersex and transgender.
