Could someone explain to me what the point of this article is?

The first paragraph reminded me the movie Taken, the opening premise of which is that a young girl moving from America to France is actually now in more danger of violence.

In times of tragedy false dichotomies always abound: "How can you be mad about A when B has happened/is happening?!"

I like to think of people like these as "rage hipsters". Charlie Hebdo is too mainstream, they need to tell you about the tragedy they're angry about; you've probably never heard of it.
