I love my colleagues

But today everyone sat around making fun of genderqueer and non-binary people while I shifted uncomfortably because no and then later my boss said 'I think feminism has gone too far' and I was like 'So would you be willing to pay me 19.7% less than [Male Colleague]?' and she was all 'Of course not!' and I was like 'Well that's the gender pay gap in this country so maybe feminism hasn't gone far enough' and then I rode into the sunset on a unicorn. Between that and finding out that another colleague is a diehard Tory, I've realised that we should never discuss political matters with anyone we respect because otherwise it's really hard to keep respecting their stupid-ass opinions [none]

This is why people end up growing old and alone. It's not that there aren't people out there. it's that, there are people out there and as soon as you spend more than 5 minutes in conversation with them, 95% turn out to just be awful [none]

I've been arguing with people from my school lately. They already think I'm stupid and hate me anyway, so I don't care when I call them out on their stupidity and act all sarcastically against them.

But with colleagues is different, I think, you'd have to suck it up. This is why you don't work with people. Or talk to anyone. Or leave the house.

I am, as Stewart Lee would say, tediously politically correct. Like, my sister's political views make me so angry and frustrated that if we were on the internet, I would just call her a fucking idiot and then not take the trouble to speak to her again. I hate that I am so inflexible but a lot of the things I feel so strongly on are, IMO, just basic matters of human decency. Like, if you don't want to treat people with basic respect and equality, then you are wrong. You can say 'I'm entitled to my opinion' and 'It's a complex issue!' and 'Can't we agree to disagree?' all you want but you're wrong and I am not prepared to pretend that both our views have equally valid merit and weight. YOU'RE WRONG.

Hi. I'm an asshole.

^ This. I still have my blind spots, but when I find out people I know are UKIP supporters, I find it incredibly disappointing for all of 30 seconds before I fantasy murder them in my head and never talk to them again [none] Like, I was talking to one of the women at work (who, btw, has no idea what the fuck EUROPE IS) and she said "why should we help out the immigrants, when no other country is?" Well, how about, because it's the right fucking thing to do. Also, for someone who has no idea what Europe is, you sure seem to know a lot about what other countries are or aren't doing.

Hi. I am also an asshole.

I've got a colleague who is a racist. And everyone is just like 'Lol, she's such a racist lol' and they treat it like a misguided personality quirk, even when she straight up said 'nignog' IN A MEETING. And people treat me like I'm the asshole for having a problem with it. She's a perfectly nice and affable person but she thinks immigrants and people of colour aren't people in the same way that white people are and I have no idea why we're all supposed to pretend like this isn't a problem. It's like watching a Mel Gibson film and knowing he's a crazy woman-beating anti-Semite. I can't not know this.

That's because, unsurprisingly, the majority of people are actually assholes living in their world of oblivious privilege. We all do it, but at least most of the time we're self aware. Just start calling people on it. They may think you're an arse, but at least they'll eventually just stop doing it in front of you. Which I suppose is better than nothing.

And the worst thing about my self-righteousness is that I also probably fuck up all the time because I am an asshole living in a world of oblivious privilege. Robert_165 called me a moralising hypocrite once and he's probably right except he's not because he was basically an idiot.

I've had people complaining to me about immigrants. That's how I know they are fucking idiots. You don't rant about immigration to a product of immigration! That's like... common sense.

Everyone deserves the same shot at life as everyone else. That's common sense. You can't tell people they're not allowed in the country, just because you were born there. fuck that shit. I was born here too. Maybe I don't want you in the country, you dick [none]

Well migrating is a natural state of the human being. It has existed since forever. Since the Africans came to Europe, then Asia, then from Asia to America, then from Europe to America, then from America to Europe, and so on and on and on... That's always going to be the situation unless you want to be like Incestland... err... I mean... Iceland. I meant Iceland. [none]

But as you know, it has become a politicized issue because people are fucking racist and nationalistic. It's again, one of the many reasons I oppose Nationalism. It'd probably not be that much of an issue if politicians didn't play with people's racism to get votes.

I get to deal with a handsy creeper of a boss who has recently become more handsy and constantly tells me to wear heels because he likes heels and that's the tamest of the comments he makes to me.

I am so grossed out by him but am stuck because who'd believe a woman in regards to such a respected colleague? [none] I'm really hoping to win the lottery soon and then I'll take you Aels to neverland. [yes]

My bosses are people who would rather hold a meeting to say that we need to hold a meeting to get something done rather than get it done in this meeting right now. And then by the time the second planned meeting to figure it out comes along, other shit has piled up and the thing gets pushed further back. In short, the State of California (at least my department, but I imagine they're all about the same) is run very inefficiently, which is probably a major factor in why our budget is always fucked up. As an added bonus we are experiencing an "exceptional drought", which is fucking the entire planet. Working for the Department of Food and Agriculture in the highest-producing agricultural region in the world and experiencing a drought and all the human errors involved is stresssssfullllllll. I can empathise with this. My colleagues thought it'd be a good idea to organise a "beer and curry" night so about a dozen of us arranged to go for a few pints and then head to the curry house. Because I go for a lot of currys they asked me to recommend the restaurant which I did.

I have never been so embarrassed. Half of them acted like every stereotype you can imagine in that place and I spent most of the evening telling them to shut up/fuck-off-home-if-they-can't-behave and the other half apologising the staff. It was like the "Going for an English" episode from Goodness Gracious Me... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdo79znnHl8)

From what I learned from Azzy the bastard, Tories are pushing private iniciative. (that's how you fix any economy) and leaving the E.U is actually not that bad of an idea. All of the E.U should be dismantled.

Now, saying that, if the U.K leaves EU it would cause a great inconvenience for me. Since my Italian passport will be worth shit.

EDIT: Also, I might remind you people that Labour were the ones that bombed Iraq for shit and giggles. That makes them terrorists and I am not sure why they are even still alive and politicizing. No one should vote Labor, ever. Never.

You should take the http://www.voteforpolicies.org.uk test thing. See who you actually do agree with the most. Use postcode CV10 8PU when it asks you for one. Just say you live in England.

Conservatives - 50%
Greens - 16.7%
Labour [none] - 16.7%
Liberal Democrats - 16.7%

There's a red line under "Labour" for a reason and I would never vote for anything calling themselves Liberal Democrats. Like our Green Party, your Greens make some valid points on environmental issues but are in serious need of a reality check otherwise. And what the fuck is the deal about hunting with dogs? Damn it, I didn't get UKIP on anything.

I did a full test and got:

Labour: 10%
Liberal Democrats: 10%

My hippy liberal credentials are intact and I cannot believe my boyfriend is a Tory.

Green Party: 57.1%
Liberal Democrats: 28.6%
Labour: 14.3%

About in line with the results I get in German surveys.

But I think I prefer the German "Wahl-o-mat".
Instead of agreeing to an entire party program, you get asked your opinion on 40 issues relevant in the election campaign, e.g in this case "UK should abolish the Bedroom Tax". You can select agree, neutral or disagree; and decide if particular issues are to be weighted twice.

But then in Germany there is a proportional voting system; with a number of parties in the two-digit zone.

I picked 4 topics and got 100% green.

But obviously like Brandon says. Either a. Those people need reality check or b. They live in the real world and are just bs their way into getting votes (which is more likely)

Also there is a party over there that sounded very chavist. All that was missing was "we are going to hire birds possessed by Chavez to give us counsel and make a statue to maduro" I don't know which party it was but bomb that one first.

The thing about the Greens and other smaller parties is that they know damn well they're never getting in power. They can promise the world as they'll never have to deliver it.

Might retake the test. I will obviously end up choosing green policies because I am a leftist socialist marxist communist. But I still live in the real world. And I know the UK is a satanic country. So a lot of those proposals sound like mass manipulation. That apparently don't work that much anyway.

I'm pro-EU just because it's convenient for me too. But I am quite aware what it is and it's basically a cult so that France and Germany can play gods while parasite countries like Spain and Greece can benefit from it. [none]

Conservative 40%
Liberal Democrat 30%
Labour 20%
UKIP 10%

To be fair - the UKIP one was on the Environment and as I recall it when I read the options for the environment I couldn't get terribly excited by any of them so I pretty much picked one at random...

As it happens I voted Liberal Democrat, but perhaps that's only because I live in a safe Tory seat so I knew it wouldn't make any difference?

When I first read this I saw "chavs" as in Burberry-wearing Essex boys and thought of UKIP and they probably do deserve to be on the list to be "bombed first", but I don't think that's what you were getting at was it! [smile]
