Jafar (post second wish, pre third) vs Maleficent.

Who wins in a fight against the other?

Maleficent. For why:

1) She cursed a baby for fun
2) There's something kinda desperate about Jafar whereas Maleficent is chill as fuck, just hanging out cursing babies
3) She taught me a very important life lesson, which is that when life gives you lemons, declare yourself the mistress of all evil and turn into a dragon
4) Probably some other reasons?

I sort of want to say Maleficent, but I think Jafar wins for three reasons:

1) While Maleficent not bothering with a villain song earns her some cool points, Jafar's villain song was just a cruel mockery of the hero's signature song at the hero's lowest moment. That's even better than not having a song.

2) Jafar's snake was cooler than Maleficence's dragon.

3) Jafar is the only Disney villain I can think of who was defeated by actually being tricked instead of just by brute physical force. Maleficent was stabbed and thrown off a cliff. Aladdin actually had to use his mind and trick Jafar to beat him.

win for Jafar

I should have been more specific. This is a question on who would win in a fight if they were to face one another.

Maleficent. Jafar's power is externally granted, he's really got nothing if you tamper with that lamp. Man had to use a wish to become the most powerful sorcerer in the world. Maleficent tears up shit all on her own.

How are "all the powers of Hell" internal?

Eh, I assumed she was being rhetorical. Either way, she's not Macguffin-dependent.

Last goalpost move I promise: Let's assume for whatever reason the lamp is no longer in play.

There's a really simple way to win this and involves the comparative use of their powers

I feel like maybe you should just tell us who you think wins and then me or DA can tell you you're wrong.

Jafar, because he's a man.

You win the thread but not the debate.

I was going to say Maleficent, because Jafar was tricked and despite his power, squandered it by turning into a giant snake whereas she turned into a dragon and had to be taken down by three magic users enchanting a sword.

But Derived makes a compelling argument about Jafar being a dude.
