I am a big fan of DBZ but since I don't know enough about Disney to understand its involvement in this reference, I am now angry.

Like, is that Cinderella? Why is she so mad? What does that have to do with Vegeta? Ugh.

Whereas I know that's Rapunzel and don't know anything about DBZ and also haven't seen Tangled

It's Rapunzel. She's powering up and going Super Saiyan , most likely because her boyfriend (to the left) was killed by the woman on the right

A commenter asked if they were going to bring back her long blonde hair without addressing that it was cut off or if it was going to be like a power up. This immediately let me to do a search for "Rapunzel, Super Saiyan".

There is an episode in which the power level of Vegeta's (the man pictured) rival is "over 9000" because he's super angry at the time, fueled with rage. And Vegeta expresses his shock at such a high number. So I guess when a person is expressing anger the meme is to say "It's over 9000!" Ugh. How this became an internet meme I do not know. Or what is has to do with Rapunzel. I hate it when things I like become memes.

Her boyfriend was killed (guy on the left). This is a complete retelling of her reaction using DBZ lore, having it similar to Goku's when Frieza kills Krillin.

The "over 9000" episode is when Vegeta and Nappa tell Goku they killed Piccolo. The Frieza/Krillin thing is way later. But yes I see the connection. Anger.

I think the over 9000 thing w/ vegeta is just to note that her transformation is using DBZ lore.

I would have thought the thing that would bother yoj is that Vegeta is still wearing a scouter.

I haven't seen DBZ but it was when some character was like rating the power ups or something using some kind of glasses. And when he sees Goku fighting this other dude and screens him he says "It's over 9000!" I think it became a meme since TeamFourStar did a parody of it and that's how I know about it. I think. The meme could have started before that.

This is the first time I heard/saw the over 9000 thing. DBZ is pretty big here, but I had no idea what those cartoon characters were doing in this video, or even who they were. I just thought it was so nonsensical it was funny.

The amusing thing is that "9000" is simply a mistranslation from the Japanese, where it said "8000".

I was a fan of the original Dragon ball way back in the day(when the main character was a kid)...long before it got really big in the US. This was when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I used to wake up at 5 am just to watch it because it only came on weekends at that time. I was obsessed. But then I started getting frustrated with the show because they wouldn't move the story along. They would get to a particular point and start the airing the episodes from the beginning again. Then they would go a little farther and then start from the beginning again. I eventually lost interest and then the show suddenly got really popular by the time I got to high school. By then I didn't give a damn. I had been burned too much .

So, fuck dragon ball....
