Okay, so I just thought of something. I want to get a read on some of you. I don't know if this is stupid or not, but whatever. Don't worry, it's voluntary. Basically I'm just going to list a bunch of random words and y'all can decide whether you have a positive or negative reaction to them. Like, whether a certain word has positive or negative connotations to you. The point is that it has to be an intuitive gut feeling, an immediate unconscious reflex, to test what you think on certain things, so you can't think about them too much. Or, like, at all. Like, when you hear the word empty of context, if your first reaction is "ugh" or "yay!" before you consciously think about it.

So, your choices are: positive, negative, or neutral. That's all. THOSE ARE THE RULES. Or you can just skip some. Or just not do it at all and make fun of me. Whatever. But at least I'M TRYING.

That's another one that requires context. You've got the drum circle/music festival/giggling stoner hippies who believe in nothing, and you've got critically thinking people who form protests and things that are sometimes worthwhile who have been called "hippies". Now, the second one isn't much better than the first, but not as bad. I tend to see hippies like Cartman does, in general, but there are decent hippies out there.

I'm curious as to why people view masturbation as anything less than amazingly positive - seems sexually unhealthy to me

Because when I hear the word the first thing I picture is some guy masturbating and that's gross. So I feel negative.

It's aesthetically disgusting and that's what I viscerally feel first.

I'm firmly in the "Religion is overwhelmingly negative" camp even if it does have some benefits.

Given this is all context neutral - my impression of religion is almost exclusively the Abrahamic faiths - not the more mediative eastern faiths that I have little knowledge of or experience of.
Anything that delivers a static - universal set of moral standards based on Authority over reason and determines as a default that all people are so intrinsically disordered that they deserve eternal punishment - cannot be a good thing. More than that, the whole thing is an argument from authority and that authority is entirely fabricated .. so .. yep, unapologetically negative
