You don't. You find people that are just as awkward and weird as you. If you're having trouble, you're not trying. Try Craig's list.

It's worked for me (sans Craig's list).

That, and joining a bunch of Meetup.com groups (do not confuse it w/ Meetme) to learn how to mimic the normals. But deep down, you're always going to be weird and awkward.

I am not remotely equipped to answer this question bc I am very awkward and weird and everyone tells me so.

But also, there will be people who are like 'You are awkward and weird but I like you', which also happens to me. Also don't try Craigslist, you will be murdered probably.

I should add a caveat that the Craig'a List suggestion was a joke.

Don't feel guilty. Own your shit. The ones truly important to you will be the ones that won't care about you weirding them out.

Yeah, your best bet is to find other people with similar weirdness/awkwardness as you, or just people you feel very comfortable around. Otherwise, what I tend to try is to relax (as best as I can) and think very carefully about whether or not I should say something when I'm around people I don't necessarily feel comfortable with.
