I'm surprised at just how versatile the sweet potato really is

Found a recipe that called for green chiles, pork, and sweet potato. They called for yams, but I'm pretty sure they meant sweet potato. Even if they didn't, I was surprised at how well the sweet potato complemented the spiciness of the dish (called for hot sauce, and I used the hot green chiles in addition to the sauce, as well as oregano and cumin). The sweet potato was noticeable but not overpowering, and just overall tasted really good with all the seasonings.
