It argues that in the future machine intelligence and human genetic intelligence will co-evolve and build off each other in a positive feedback loop, using advanced gene editing and whatnot. Somewhat interesting.

I'm not a neuroscientist, and I don't really know what causes intelligence.
The article seems to infer that the predisposition for intelligence is purely genetic.
I don't know if it's true, but if it's not, then the article becomes moot.
Unless I lack the intelligence to understand what the author was saying; and he was talking about cyborgism; and direct enhancement of the human mind with artificial intelligence devices. I guess the future will show in what direction the research is heading.

No one claims the predisposition for intelligence is purely genetic, but intelligence has a strong genetic component. That's undeniable nowadays.

Um... no? He was talking pretty specifically about genetic enhancements only. Brain interfaces and others of that type only had a few sentences devoted to them, and they were referring to something entirely different.
