Actors who sound totally different from their characters

Post by Whitey »

I've been watching Oz, and it's got a lot of actors I recognise in it, and one is Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. In Oz, Lost, and The Mummy Returns, Game of Thrones, The Bourne Identity, he's used the same African sounding accent, and even though I knew he was born in the UK, I assumed that his parents must have been immigrants and he picked up the same accent as them. But nope, he sounds really British when he speaks normally. Took me by surprise when I stumbled across this.

Are there any other actors you've been surprised to hear talk out of character. I know some people get surprised by Hugh Laurie when he speaks for example.

I've only seen Lennie James in two American TV series so he definitely sounds different as himself.

Lennie James I've only seen in Snatch and The Walking Dead, seeing the former first. So it was more unusual to me hearing his accent in TWD. On that note Andrew Lincoln probably surprises people, I've heard him more as Rick than I've heard his real accent. But I've also been told his accent in the first few series wasn't that convincing.

Thought of Hugh Laurie right away. Also, Andrew Garfield.
