I heard somewhere recently that the term "pig" referring to police originally came from a black panther artist drawing white police officers as pigs(probably trying to make fun of how "white" skin can look like pinkish at times). The Ronald Reagan tried to rebrand pink as "pride, integrity, and guts".

I'm certain that the "Pride, Integrity, Guts" rebranding happened long before Reagan was president. I remember my uncle, a county sheriff at the time, using that reference in the 70s. Of course, it's possible Reagan could have come up with it while governor of California but I doubt it would have swept across the country like it did.

Or he drew them as pigs because pig was an abusive term for cops going back way before the 60s.Cassius Clay wrote:I heard somewhere recently that the term "pig" referring to police originally came from a black panther artist drawing white police officers as pigs(probably trying to make fun of how "white" skin can look like pinkish at times). Now that you mention it, I believe they did say it was while he was governor. It doesn't mean he necessarily started it though.CashRules wrote:I'm certain that the "Pride, Integrity, Guts" rebranding happened long before Reagan was president.
