summary: Adam Lambert is headlining Singapore's 2016 New Year's Eve concert, and this has made a lot of people very angry because he's gay and they don't want gay people doing live concerts that children might be watching in case he ends up, idk, spontaneously making out with random guys and having sex on stage or something, because that's what gay people do.
It's headdesk-ingly ridiculous, not least because it's not as though he's planning the programme (which the organizers have assured the public will be PG-13) - he'll just be singing. Even if he wanted to turn it into a gay sex orgy to corrupt the children he wouldn't be able to without first getting everyone else on board and making it past the notoriously strict censors. Live TV is technically a few seconds delayed, precisely so censors can cut stuff just in case. And meanwhile Lambert has performed at concerts here before and nothing R-rated happened.
And then this is how we end up making international headlines. I have no opinion on Adam Lambert, but the renewed surge of homophobia this has caused isn't fun.
