LOL Argentina: Not sure if you people heard the Top Gear incident

One of the cars had a licence plate that said 82FLK and that was enough to ignite the fury of the silliest of the southern cone dumbheads, which intercepted and tried to mob lynch the show runners.

Britain should have invaded Argentina then and just took over. How fucked up does a country have to be to think it has a legitimate claim on a few small islands that were never part of Argentina in the first damn place?

Of all the reasons to try and attack Jeremy Clarkson, this seems like a misguided one.

This, along with punching Piers Morgan, are two of the things to like about Jeremy Clarkson. I'm sure the plates were intentional, if not by the presenters, then the behind the scenes staff. Argentina's claim to the Falklands is laughable, anything which mocks it is good.

Politicians there just use it as a way to drum up support.

I don't doubt for a minute that it was intentional. Top Gear don't exactly go out of their way to avoid giving offense.

Don't you people have nukes? Why does Argentina even still exist?

True.

So we can work out which celebrities are idiots when they pledge support for Argentina's claim. Sean Penn for example.

Well nowhere was part of anywhere in the first place, so like all territorial claims it comes down to power. But to answer your question, a country ruled by a faltering military junta desperate to cling onto power by igniting patriotic fervour among the people. They succeeded in igniting the patriotic fervour, but that's about it. The fact that they still get so upset about it is almost as amusing as how upset the English get over Diego Maradona's Hand of God.

A colleague of mine just posted on Facebook that 'it seems Clarkson is going to be sacked... Finally we have lost our sense of humour to PC. Another sign of the End...'

I replied by pointing out that physically attacking a colleague probably falls outside the bounds of considerations of political correctness. Although if this colleague thinks that we should be allowed to hit people we work with without facing consequences, I might go into work tomorrow and punch him in the nose for being an utter numpty.

Yeah, Clarkson is likely to be sacked, and he can't really complain. As far as I can tell he punched and insulted the guy because they'd been told no when they'd asked for some food. I mean, I like food as much as the next person, but I'm not going to punch about it.

Also you've reminded me of the bit where Stewart Lee points out that an entire generation of people have managed to confuse Health and Safety with Political Correctness.

'They're saying I can't have an electric fire in the bath any more, Stew, in case queers see it. In the old days you could get your head and you could submerge it in a vat of boiling acid. And now they're going 'Oh, don't do that, what if Jews see it? Might annoy Jews'. You could get your whole family and you could jump in a threshing machine and dance around. All your arms would fly off and it was fine. And now they're going 'Oh... they've banned Christmas'. They've banned Christmas now'.

That's from 41st Best Stand Up but I couldn't find the Comedy Vehicle bit.

I managed to read that in his voice. His delivery is awesome. Also I went to see him last year for a tenner. In case you didn't know. [none]

Now my colleague's friend has stepped in by saying that the press have an agenda and there are two sides to a story and that no one hits someone else without a reason. Which... yeah, he may have had a reason, but that reason was probably 'a tantrum thrown by a man who believes his fame makes him invulnerable to consequences, with a touch of testosterone poisoning'. There is literally no good reason to hit a work colleague unless they are trying to kill you with an axe at the time, or you are both professional boxers.

Okay, I just saw an article where he punched Piers Morgan several years ago and I was wondering what the problem was. If I ever meet Piers Morgan I'm going to punch him.

Punching Piers Morgan is legit the only thing I have ever liked about Clarkson.

I like Clarkson. It's a shame he won't be on TG anymore, but it has always been a matter of time before he got the sack. He likes to push boundaries and this time he went too far. All the people defending him are a bunch of fecking morons. If any of us had hit/attempted to hit a colleague, at the very least it's a disciplinary and worst it's potential assault charges and the sack. Course, he's being supported by the testosterone louts and uneducated Stella birds of the nation, so I shouldn't really be surprised by the public support.

I did find him funny when he wasn't pushing things too far.

Sure, he was pissed off that he couldn't get any hot food at the end of a day filming, as it was probably someone's job to sort out the food for him and the other presenters. Still shouldn't have hit the other guy.

One of my colleagues pisses me off every single shift as he's a UKIP/BNP supporter and pretty sexist, and constantly makes jokes at the expense of others. Still not going to hit him because he's a thundercunt.

I love May and Hamster, but Clarkson is the glue. He's the Dude to May's and Ham's Walter and Donny. That show won't do nearly as well with just those two presenting (if they stay). Five bucks says he's hired back rather quickly.

Their contracts are apparently up at the end of the month. BBC may just scrap the whole team and re-boot the show. Although there are plenty of people who could replace Clarkson. There's a petition to get Alan Partridge to present, which would just be glorious. Also Julian Clary, which would be interesting. There are others who could do just as well too. Tiff Needell and Quentin Wilson could always come back, maybe bring Guy Martin in...

I couldn't drudge up the enthusiasm to watch it anymore if those three aren't there together. Having to relearn entire relationships and senses of humor and timing and preferences etc. No thanks.
