The notion that women are not to be trusted - even in their evaluations of their own experiences - is one of the most pervasive and insidious piles of bullshit there is. It's not just something that has happened to me day in and day out in my real life, it's something that happens day in and day out on the intertubes too. You have *all* seen this shit on the board, at one time or another, where a woman has said 'Hey, this is a thing that has happened in my life' and a bunch of dudes have piled on to tell her that she read the situation wrong even though they weren't there and have never experienced anything similar and, in many ways, don't know what the fuck they're talking about. And don't be fooled into thinking that this is something only 'bad' guys do, and you would never do anything like that because you're a conscientious hippy liberal ally who respects women, because some of the raddest and most pleasant dudes in my life have done this to me or women I know.

And before anyone is all 'BUT NOT ALL MEN' 'WOMEN DO THIS TOO' 'AELS WHY DO YOU HATE ALL MEN YOU PROFESSIONAL VICTIM' please be aware that a) I know it is not all men, b) I know that many women are also inclined to believe the idea that women are crazy and duplicitous and to value the perceptions and opinions over a man over those of a woman, and c) because all feminists hate men and enjoy victimhood, obv.

And as the article points out, this isn't just something that relates to gender. Everyone knows that white people are the only people who are really able to tell when something is racist. And I still remember that thread on deaf people a while ago where a lot of people I respect were really fucking gross.

This is true. And I think it's true, in regard to myself, with everyone. Women or men. I think it's most apt to happen the more time you spend around someone. I realize I've spent too long working with a coworker whenever their aggravations annoy me. At that point I need to either switch things up or try and figure out a way to help the poor bastard.

One thing I often notice when talking or listening to women is: Very often, women laugh and talk at the same time. They say something, and before finishing the sentence, they burst out laughing. Some men do it as well; but I have the subjective impression that it's more common with women.

Maybe this has the same root as the phenomenon of talking down emotions of women. Because maybe young females get the "be nice" routine drilled down into them, that they either should smile and laugh, or be labeled as uptight or too serious, or bitchy. And it's a pity, because a women who laughs at her own sentences will not be taken as seriously as someone who speaks without laughing.

An alternative I've seen to that is that "it must be that time of the month," with no possibility her anger is based on some valid reason.

I'm not sure which of those "arguments" against what women have to say I find more disgusting.

This is literally the first time I've ever heard this about women. I've certainly seen people do it, men included, and I usually take it is as sign of nerves/unease. I'm sometimes guilty of it too.

I've actually noticed the laughing thing as well. And I agree that women do it more.

You know how they say that showing teeth in primates is a socially submissive gesture(meant to defuse potential tension by ingratiation), I think laughter is similar in certain contexts(awkward social settings, first dates, constantly laughing at your own jokes, laughing at other people's unfunny jokes because you feel obliged to, etc).
