A bunch of people doing Killings :|

Let's say you live in a third world country where the judicial system is corrupt and broken, where police do nothing to protect their population and in many cases are in line with thieves/gangsters/etc.

So I was talking to some annoying Brit about why I feel safe in my university. Because 5 years ago or so, a group of men entered my university and attacked a girl, they asked for her car and she gave them the keys with no problem. Problem came when the guys wanted to take the girl with them, so when she screamed, all hell cut loose. The university doors were closed a mob captured the thieves, captured their car, set their car on fire, tied them up, beat them up and paraded them around the whole campus. I really don't know what happened to them, rumors say one of them got "disappeared" and the other one was set free to tell the message. The burned car carcass was displayed at the entrance. To all of this, I only saw the carcass, but my kid patient saw the thieves when there were tied up and being dragged around the whole campus.

So basically, thieves are afraid to set a foot inside my own university. I feel safe that if I scream, people will respond like that. So in this context... is this justified?

I have deep, deep, ooooh Mariana Trench deep concerns about vigilante justice. But while I think it is very seldom ethical, it can be understandable, particularly when your actual justice systems are wildly unjust. In summation:

When you say "the mob", I guess you just mean a bunch of people, and not like the mafia or something. Reading the title, I expected this to be about La Cosa Nostra or some shit, but context clues indicate otherwise.

Yeah... I'm against it. But at the same time is like "meh.. burn them. At least it spreads the message." [none] So it's conflicting!!!
