Extrajudicial Executions
Extrajudicial Executions
Let's say you live in a third world country where the judicial system is broken and corrupt. You open the newspaper one day and you see a report on how the convicts at the main jail live. What you see at the "farm" as they call it outrageous, since the farm is equipped with flat tv's, hot tubs, pool tables, guns and many many cellphones that the inmates use for extortion. What this means is that the jail farm is at the hands of the inmates who control it and live lavish lives inside of it. So of course, there is outrage.
No more than two days later an operation by the police is launched, there are shootings and 7 inmates end up dead in the shootings. The police took the jail back. So all good right? WELL NO! Further investigation proved that the inmates that were killed, were subdued by the police, they were lined up and executed.
They followed the chain of orders and they came up with two names. The Chief of police and some and the chief of the penitentiary system.
So in this context, what do you think? Where the extrajudicial executions justified? Are both Chiefs heroes?
GO!

Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Illegal killing is, on the whole, not rad. Also, pretty much all police organisations, prison systems, and criminal justice systems in general are broken and corrupt. In summation, fuck the police. Thank you.
WORDS IN THE HEART CANNOT BE TAKEN
Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Well there is more to this case but that's basically what the public knows. I HAVE THE WHOLE STORY BECAUSE OHMYGOSH I'M SO IMPORTANT!
But in this context, could two heads of judicial system be regarded as brave for taking justice into their own hands?
EDIT: also I do have an opinion on this matter, I just want to know what you people think.

Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Nah, I don't think that lining up (presumably) unarmed people and executing them in the understanding that you are institutionally protected from legal reprisal is what I would call brave.

Re: Extrajudicial Executions
I think there are pictures of what happened. They were tied up, lined up, and shot one by one. ISIS style.
They were armed at first, but once the jail was recaptured, they surrendered and it's when the executions started to happen.
Of course there is more to this story, but that is just what is released to the public.

If they had taken the prison back and turned it into a prison, perhaps they could be considered heroes. Or just doing their job, I dunno.Dr_Liszt wrote:No more than two days later an operation by the police is launched, there are shootings and 7 inmates end up dead in the shootings. Has anyone seen the Mel Gibson movie Get the Gringo?
The agonies which are have their origin in the ecstasies which might have been.
Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Well yeah. Taking the jail back is what they are supposed to do. And any casualties during the process is justifiable.Ptolemy_Banana wrote:If they had taken the prison back and turned it into a prison, perhaps they could be considered heroes. The problem comes with casualties after they had surrender the jail to the police.
Re: Extrajudicial Executions
So what happened afterwards was an order to capture both chiefs. But both of them have dual citizenship. One is Italian the other is Swedish. So they ran to their respective consulates for protection.
Which country do you think gave the asylum and which country do you think told their dude to fuck off?

That I don't know the whole story, and therefore have no qualified opinion on this.Dr_Liszt wrote:So in this context, what do you think?
Common sense is another word for prejudice.
Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Nothing about that situation sounds good to me.
Re: Extrajudicial Executions
There is no need to know the whole story. What you need to know is that two chiefs of police ordered the executions of 7 unarmed, already surrendered inmates. They were tied up, lined up and shot to death. What else do you want to know?phe_de wrote:That I don't know the whole story, and therefore have no qualified opinion on this.Dr_Liszt wrote:So in this context, what do you think?

Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Is this thread about the incident that happened back in 2006? Or have there been multiple incidents like this? Which involved a Swiss-Guatemalan police chief who got a life sentence last year?
This guy who looks like he's gone to a fancy dress party as 'Corrupt Central American Cop'?

Re: Extrajudicial Executions
Yesssss. I'm talking about it since he is getting a retrial. Probably going to get free. So people are asking for prayers for his freedom.
So... People are asking for prayers for this guy. May I set my country on fire?
