Best prayer in a movie.

Post by CashRules »

The Cowboys (1972) a John Wayne western:

Jebidiah Nightlinger (Roscoe Browne) already has the noose around his neck and is about to be hung by Asa Watts (Bruce Dern) and his band of rustlers. Watts' allows Nightlinger to say a "final" prayer:
Lord, I regret trifling with married women. I'm thoroughly shamed of having cheated at cards. I deplore my occasional departures from the truth. Forgive me for taking your name in vain, my Saturday drunkenness and my Sunday sloth. Above all, forgive me for the men who I have killed in anger..{turns head to look at Watts}...and for those that I am about to.

That wasn't a prayer, that was a sermon, and that movie sucks.

When young Jenny and Forrest kneel in the corn fields and Jenny prays for God to make her into a bird so she can fly far, far away from here.
The agonies which are have their origin in the ecstasies which might have been.

What's Daryl Dixon doing in a Catholic Church and where's his crossbow?

Who prays to their god and basically ends the prayer with a "fuck you if you don't answer, I'll take care of it myself"? I believe that's what's called some gangsta shit.

I work out to this version sometimes.
