A Trump presidency where we all have to actually live through it.

Reminds me of when my state (MN) elected a wrestler after every pundit laughed at his chances. Except he was just an idiot, not a fascist.
Michael Moore was right: the public has just issued a nihilistic "Fuck you!" to the world.

I'm feeling an odd and extremely unpleasant mix of literal suicidal depression and, like, clinical euphoria. Depression for obvious reasons and euphoria because... I guess this is the day where I have, officially, given up on life? Where I have just disconnected entirely? My lizard brain seems to think I already have, but my mind hasn't yet, because it's still in shock.

@DA - Feeling something similar. Anything can happen now. Anything. It's extremely terrifying and yet also weirdly exciting. Like if someone announced that a huge alien spaceship just appeared and is about to blow up the planet.

Hillary would have won Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida and Pennsylvania without Johnson, although that's assuming thy wouldn't have otherwise voted for Trump.

Yes, exactly. We are in completely uncharted territory. And I do realize that's a hyper-privileged feeling, because I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to be able to feel anything except abject terror and desperation, but... I mean, that's how I feel. If I was a Hispanic immigrant I probably wouldn't feel elation or excitement right now.
Holy fuck. My head is buzzing. I still haven't even processed this yet.

The racist and misogynist trolls are already out. Saw a comment from someone saying he's glad that there won't be a pussy leaving a slimy trail at the White House. The internet is going to be even more terrifying.

Yeah, I'm staying away from the Internet for... ever. I'm only staying in certain safe spaces now.
I'm keeping sane by keeping in mind that in about forty years the Singularity will hit and none of this will even matter.
Edit: tell them that Hillary got the popular vote and that it's only due to the outdated "rigged" electoral college system that Trump won. They probably won't like that.

I just said nuclear apocalypse, dude. Doesn't that count?
But no. The only bright side is that the Clinton dynasty is now thankfully dead. Dead, never to return.
An actual response: there's some talk that many states are actually taking concrete, drastic action to finally end the electoral college because of this. Supposedly. So... there's that. Whoop-die do.

I guess it's also going to be a lot harder now to deny the racism and misogyny in the US. Hopefully it spurs people to action.

lol at the comments about how while Trump is a successful businessman, the only qualifications Clinton has are "being a woman" and "fucking an ex-president", but that libtards apparently consider that enough to run a country.

Ok. The only two people I know who voted Johnson were strongly anti-Trump, so it's likely skewed my perception.

Polls said that Johnson pulled roughly equal numbers from both Clinton and Trump, but, uh, I think this election has taught us a thing or two about polls.
And in case anyone's wondering, I still feel extremely light-headed.
I'm going to go do drugs now. Lots and lots of drugs.

There were only ever 2 options. Supporting a 3rd was just pointless. There were only 2 options because we as Americans have been complacent in such a system for years. This only happened because we have been led to believe it is impossible for reasonable alternatives to succeed. Stein & Johnson only serve to bolster the two party system, not break it.Blade Azaezel wrote:There were only ever 2 options. Supporting a 3rd was just pointless. I'm not so sure about that. The people that deny racism and sexism voted for Trump, and are still denying racism and sexism same as always.Anakin McFly wrote: I guess it's also going to be a lot harder now to deny the racism and misogyny in the US. Hopefully it spurs people to action.
"Trump isn't sexist, he's just a man, you ass-ramming faggot!"
"Trump isn't racist, Islam is not a race, fucktards! They want to rape children and kill your family! It's not racist to want to stop Mexicans from stealing our jobs and our tax money!"
Etc

The decision this year was too important to fluff up with a 3rd party vote. It's exactly what the UK did in our last election when everyone decided on 3rd party protest votes, and the 'Fucking Tories' got into power.Unvoiced_Apollo wrote:There were only 2 options because we as Americans have been complacent in such a system for years. I felt like that post-Brexit. It was like, woooo, nothing really matters any more? Zero Punctuation put it best '"There's a certain liberty in hopelessness, isn't there? I mean, we're all going to suffer because of Trump but I am so fucking sorry for you and everyone else who is going to have to live in Trump's America.Derived Absurdity wrote:I'm feeling an odd and extremely unpleasant mix of literal suicidal depression and, like, clinical euphoria. yep. Re: Holy fuck
I know a left-wing Brexiteer who voted Leave because fuck the system, maaaaan, and she liked this post today and I'm going to have to unfriend her:
"President Trump. It's both brilliant and scary.
Brilliant because it confirms that the mainstream -- the political class, the media, the academy, celebrities, all of whom lined up loudly and slavishly behind Hillary -- can no longer shape the political world to their tastes. Their political and moral remit is severely diminished, and not before time. Brilliant because it will traumatise all the people who deserve to be traumatised: the politicos and observers and campaigners who have conspired in the profound moral disorientation and weakening of the white working class and other sections of society to such an extent that those people found themselves with no political voice -- they were "health problems" and "moral crises" to be fixed, not political citizens to be listened to -- other than the megaphone of Trump. Brilliant because sneering, dehumanising political elites find it so unbrilliant.
And it's scary because it shows that while the rules of all the old politics are over, and the authority of the old establishment waned and probably dead, nothing real or substantial has replaced it. That the answer to the brilliant question "They shouldn't rule us anymore, so who should?" is "Donald Trump" is both sad and tragic. And it's largely the fault of the left. Instead of providing some shape and colour to people's stirring feeling of exhaustion and dislike for the political establishment, they lined up behind the establishment, desperate to prop it up for another four years, even praising it as progressive and good, sounding utterly mad in the process. What turncoats. What uncritical footsoldiers for a dying breed of political authority. President Trump is their fault. When you see them crying today -- and they are literally crying -- do not comfort them. They deserve this pain."
Like, no, fucko, I know you want to tear down the system etc etc but the people who are going to be hurt by Trump are the people already suffering - the vulnerable, who you claim to represent. She believes in chemtrails too.
