WDAS:
-Bolt
-The Princess & the Frog
Miyazaki
-Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
-Spirited Away

With these new addiitions combined with the previous kids' movies I've acquired, I think my collection of animated movies can rival any pedo's .

Actually quite a few I don't have. I only have Nimh, Tail + sequel, and Coraline.

You should have gone with "I'm pretty sure I'm too old for you".
I found most at Target. The hardest one to find was Land Before Time as they didn't have it next to the godawul sequels.Gendo wrote:Actually quite a few I don't have. I only have Nimh, Tail + sequel, and Coraline.

The Secret of Nimh and An American Tail are dope as fuck. The Secret of Nimh held up well. I watched it recently as a thirty-something-year-old adult and still enjoyed it. I can't say the same for An American Tail, although I loved it as a kid.

I recently watched a clip of "Somewhere Out There", so I can see why it wouldn't be a favorite at this age.BruceSmith78 wrote:The Secret of Nimh and An American Tail are dope as fuck. Re: My New DVDs
Just re-watched an American Tail.
A lot of stuff in it I didn't appreciate as a kid (references to political corruption, ethnic corruption, etc.), but I don't think it does hold up quite as well as Secret of Nimh.
Still, I do share this sentiment

He probably thinks it's called "The Colour Purple" too. You can't trust Brits.

I decided to add Pocahontas & Hunchback to my collection. I had to bite the bullet and get the ones that came with the cheapquels, but I can now have a Disney Renaissance Era marathon.

Spoke too soon. I forgot I still need Aladdin
In other news, I now have Prince of Egypt, the Great Mouse Detetective, and the Black Cauldron (the last of which I got just because it was the first Disney animated film to be rated PG).

Related fact, a couple nights ago I watched Snow White for what might have been my first time ever. Very well could have seen it as a kid; but I don't remember.

That happened to me about a year ago. I was sure I had seen it as a kid. Watched it again as n adult, ans there were so few things I remember. Her run through the forest, of which I didn't remember, is pretty damn intense and shows Disney I don't think had simply kids in mind for the medium.
Re: My New DVDs
Yeah, I made the same comment while watching it. A lot of stuff with the queen was pretty dark also. My wife's interpretation is simply that kids were a lot less protected against such things 80 years ago than they are now.

When I was 18 I watched The Black Cauldron on an acid trip in the middle of the night, alone, with the lights off and a ball of Christmas lights blinking in the corner. It's the only way to see it.

It'a probably the only way to get through it without wanting to smash the TV as a result of Gurgi's voice.BruceSmith78 wrote:When I was 18 I watched The Black Cauldron on an acid trip in the middle of the night, alone, with the lights off and a ball of Christmas lights blinking in the corner. Re: My New DVDs
With Aladdin as my newest addition, I could have a Disney Renaissance Marathon if I so wished (doing a marathon from Snow White to current sould be impossible, even when trying to select for the most iconic)
For those not aware, these are the animated movies by the flagship animation studio of Disney from 1989-1999. Like with any matathon, there's some gems, some underrated movies, overrated movies, and one or two flat out "the hell are they doing??" movies.
