Movie I Saw

Hotel Transylvania 2.

I don't think it's better than some of the other animated movies this year, but I enjoyed it. I didn't get a "why am I watching this" feeling (Minions, I'm looking at you). It's fast paced (though the movie does somehow manage to drag in the beginning with a rushed intriduction). I thought the comedic timing was much better than the first. I think the first for me might have been Genndy Tartarkovsky's inexperience with feature length animation. This felt a little more polished. For me, it's an accomplishment when movies like this can use scenes for the trailer to attract and still have what I found to be good comedic moments.

That said, it is pretty silly and there's nothing that's new, groundbreaking or enlightening. It's a pretty standard kids'. It also had a mixed message which kind of bothered me.

I'd give it a 6/10, but I would recommend it if you're looking for just a fun, silly kids' movie (even if you're an adult). And yes, the 3-D is really good in this.
